Cardiff City Stadium

Project

Supply, install and control the first fully networked Football Stadium.

Objective

We were asked to supply, install and control the first fully networked Football Stadium in the UK. To deliver a mass communication network that is both versatile and future proof, promoting and encouraging interaction amongst fans.

The Bluetooth network was designed to allow different content to be sent from all parts of the ground ie. Ticket Office, Premier Lounges, family stand etc. All content can be changed instantly from one location.

Content could be sent to fans or they could request information on Scores, Fixturelists, League Tables, Player Profiles, Manager video interviews and the ability for fans to take pictures during the game and send them to the network enabling us to instantly put some up on the giant digital screen within the ground.

Implementation

18 bluSYSTEM servers were installed at various locations around the stadium and were networked together allowing full remote access and control.

Date Installed

October 2008.

Result

The service has been running for 10 home games and has sent out 89,789 invitations for information, and has seen 53,601 people request and receive the content including a quiz application, fan interaction platforms like a fans photo gallery and third party advertising messages.
