Stanley Park High School, AV Installation
Igniting a passion for learning through technology.
The New Stanley Park High School in Sutton was five years in the making and wanted to be the most environmentally friendly and technology advanced school in the Europe.
If they could achieve this then they could inspire children and adults to learn through diverse, flexible and rich experiences.
If the school could maximise the impact of video and audio across the school, they could engage learners, share best practice and communicate across the entire school community. Making content accessible anytime, anywhere from all the great digital resources staff and students will be creating.
Working with manufacturer Sony and expert independent AV Installer Building Management Solutions, the school looked carefully at a range of possible options before deciding that a solution based on equipment from Sony's Professional Range would best meet their needs, along with the installation experience of BMS.
"The decision was in part based on our previous experiences with Sony AV equipment," said Alex James, Managing Director of BMS, "Sony's products have shown to combine excellent performance with reliability and value for money. Another important factor was the wide range of equipment offered by Sony, which includes, High Definition IP Dome and Studio Cameras, Vision Mixers, Audio Amplifiers, Microphones, Projection, Canvas Video Wall, LED Screens and Managed by High-Capacity Opsigate Storage Servers that deliver excellent picture and audio quality from a central source."
The main assembly hall has a full theatrical stage lighting and sound solution combing a total of forty eight lighting circuits and four loud speaker circuits. All cabling is concealed in segregated trunking and terminated onto pre wired bars which are attached to the ceiling rigs; this provides lighting and sound to the main stage and assembly hall. The intelligent sound and lighting desks allow the stage and hall to be used independently, with each area having local inputs and control. The main hall also uses the sound solution to provide audio for their 300 seated cinema. The Sony VPL 2k projector combined with the Anycast Vision mixer and Blueray player is used to show high definition images onto a 6m 16:9 screen, this solution is also used for school presentations. The Design Team Leader Alex Thompson speaking about the hall and stage space said "We wanted to use the area independently and as one large theatrical space. Sony and BMS ability to listen to our needs, combined with their knowledge and flexible approach to design, allowed us to achieve what we required all within budget".
These principals were used across the range of solutions which included Sound and Projection System in the ASD Learning Hall, Classroom Capture Learning System, Digital Signage across the school and Eight Screen Canvas Video Wall.
