Stanley Park High School
Stanley Park High School, Classroom Capture Installation
Using technology to inspire learning.
The New Stanley Park High School in Sutton was five years in the making and wanted to be the most environmentally friendly and technology advanced school in the Europe.
If they could achieve this then they could inspire children and adults to learn through diverse, flexible and rich experiences.
If the school could maximise the impact of video and audio across the school, they could engage learners, share best practice and communicate across the entire school community. Making content accessible anytime, anywhere from all the great digital resources staff and students will be creating.
They chose to use the Opsigate content management server and software platform to manage their video and audio content from various sources but in particular from the classroom capture systems.
The Sony Classroom Capture System uses three High Definition Network Camera's with each having a directional ceiling microphone's connected to the network. The teacher uses a local computer to control the cameras, this allows them to select the camera and microphone and direct the camera towards the group they are talking too. The system can be automatically setup to allow the teacher at the press of a button to activate a preset position, making it simply to use for the operator. The images are stored on the local computer and then uploaded to the Opsigate Server, this recorded footage can be watched locally and output to a screen or projector, also it can be made available to pupils online through the schools web portal.
